John "Jay" Jones [ special counsel]
The best seven minutes of Jay Jones' professional life? The seven minutes it took to for the jury to deliver a defense verdict in Waldrop v Congaree Pharmacy. As a defense attorney in professional malpractice cases, you see the pain and stress that being accused of harming another human being can cause, and Jay Jones is proud to be part of the Barnwell Whaley team that defends professionals.
Born in Ohio and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, John "Jay" Jones received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (B.A.) and his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law (cum laude), where he was President of the Honor Council, Vice-President of the Moot Court Board, member of the Psychology, Public Policy and Law Journal, Chair of Dean's Cup, as well as a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Alpha Epsilon Lambda honor societies. He is also the recipient of the Thomas Ewald Memorial Scholarship Award, the highest award for excellence in Litigation Skills.
In addition to his civil litigation practice, Mr. Jones is a certified mediator.
When not in the office or a court room, you will find Jay coaching his children's soccer teams or picnicking with family and friends at one of Charleston's beaches. He also enjoys tennis and golf.
