April 20, 2009
Charleston, S.C. -- M. Dawes Cooke and Randell Stoney, Jr., of Barnwell Whaley Patterson & Helms, LLC, a Charleston-based law firm established in 1938, have been named to the South Carolina Super Lawyers list for 2009. Only five percent of lawyers in the state of South Carolina are named to the list, and Cooke placed among the top 10 of those in the state. This is the second year that both have been named to the list.
The selections for Super Lawyers are made by Law & Politics of Minneapolis, Minn. Each year, a rigorous multi-phase selection process is conducted, which includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent evaluation of candidates by Law & Politics’ attorney-led research staff, a peer review of candidates by practice area, and a good-standing and disciplinary check.
“We are pleased that our peers and Law & Politics have selected Dawes and Randell for inclusion in the 2009 South Carolina Super Lawyers list,” said B.C. Killough, Barnwell Whaley’s managing member. “This is an honor they both have earned by successfully representing their clients in case after case over their careers. All of us at Barnwell Whaley are proud to call Randell and Dawes our friends, mentors and partners.”
A fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, Cooke holds an AV Martindale-Hubbell rating and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America.
